Intermediate classes are offered for experienced line dancers who know steps and terminology, want to learn dances that typically are 64 counts and higher and are comfortable in a fast-paced learning environment. Dancers usually spend a year or more at the Beginner Plus level before moving up to Intermediate classes.
Recreation Center instructors are volunteers who are not compensated for teaching. Classes are free to residents with Villages ID. Proper footwear is required. Intermediate dancers wear special line dance shoes or boots, or cover their street shoes with old socks or cloth bands that allow for smooth movement on the dance floor.

Intermediate classes also are offered through The Villages Lifelong Learning College. The classes are open to everyone, providing an opportunity for Villagers to learn along with family members and friends who are not residents of The Villages. Smaller class size allows for some individual attention and enables instructors to adjust the pace of the class to the needs of those enrolled.
Class sessions run for six weeks. There is a fee for Lifelong Learning College classes. Fees are set at three levels. Fees for College patrons (donors) are $23 or $24. Fees for residents of The Villages are $26 or $27 and fees for nonresidents are $31 or $34. All fees are for the six-week session.
Intermediate classes include a mix of old favorites and the latest offerings from popular line dance choreographers. There is some focus on preparing students to participate in workshops and line dance weekends offered in Florida and nationally.
Additional class information is available in the The Villages Lifelong Learning College catalog at www.thevillageslifelongcollege.com. To enroll in a class, call (352) 753-3035 or visit the office in the east wing of The Villages High School, facing Belvedere Boulevard.
